without the 2011 Crew. The country of Niger however is a noisier place this morning because of the intelligence, energy, enthusiasm, humor, and dedication of each member of the Crew. This blog has an immediate need of some pictures of the Swearing In. Posting the pictures will honor their accomplishments and let us visibly see their joy! Long term our work as Niger Fans is just beginning, each crew member will face unique challenges and experience success on a time schedule that we have no control over...now more than ever these young people and their service must remain on the top of our lists.
Pictures Please!

Hi everyone...We only get to catch up with Cindy on Sunday's,I've tried other times but her phone isn't on!And we're not expecting pictures any time soon..if I ask if she's taking pics, I hear,"You know I'm not into that." She lives in the moment! It's going to take forever for her to fill a diposable camera. She swore a digital camera would be stolen.
ReplyDeleteSoooo...
Between missing her Bday, no pics, and missing an important day Thurs...I just want to scream!!!and cry.
Hopefully when we talk tomorrow, we'll get her new address. She's so excited about her post near Zinder. Her house has 3 rooms and a porch, her own pump for water and a huge cement tub. There is a cat already, and she's getting a kitten and puppy. She'll also have more electricity so she can charge her phone better and have it on more often YAY!!!
When we called last sunday, they had all just gotten off a taxi. As she tried to talk to me... a crowd of kids gathered around her because she was"a white girl on a cell phone", they think that's so interesting. It was hard to hear at first, until a little girl Oomou(who Cindy is named after)pulled her away from the chaos. She also attracted a crowd one day in the market as she haggled a good price for a scarf.
It was their last night with the host family and she wondered what they were eating tonight. One day, the wives made a simple bean soup, just beans and broth. She said she and Shuruq were so excited, the wives were happy and excited too!She was having a dress made for the swearing in ceremony and was looking forward to hanging out with everyone until the big move.
Until tomorrow...
YAY! Caught up with Cindy today! She's hanging out with 5 others, going swimming watching movies and shopping.A great comfort after being on a bus all day yesterday. She won't get to her new home until friday, and is enjoying having friends and good food while she can. Cindy is supposed to eat with her new host family, and is not looking forward to Millet dinners. She has been spoiled!
ReplyDeleteWe heard all about the Swearing In ceremony and how beautiful the Embassy was.Telesahel videotaped and many people took pictures.I didn't ask! Just reminded her that some day she'll want to show her children how brave and adventurous she is!
